Inspiration Photos for a "New Old" Farmhouse

Here are a few inspirational design photos that illustrate my vision for THE CONCORD GREEN HOME's aesthetic - a comfortable, elegantly simple place.

Love this exterior color palette. White clapboard, light gray standing seam metal roof and natural stone.

Beautiful front entry.

A light and airy living room in Wellesley, MA.

A wonderful creamy kitchen. Love the marble countertops, but working on greener options.
Frank Randolph.

Excellent daylighting. This garden kitchen was featured
in Southern Accents Magazine's Top 10 Kitchens.

Lots of great interior elements...horizontal plank on wainscot and ceiling, reclaimed flooring, industrial farm pendant. Perfect.

  2. Hi Lisa, any suggestions for brand/color paint you would use to get that crisp white exterior? I'm trying to recreate a similar look with my blueish gray metal roof and I stumbled upon this blog looking for inspiration. -Courtney

  3. Hi Courtney -
I am a big fan of the non-toxic paints out there, such as Mythic Paint. Mythic and others offer exterior paint that is healthier for workers, inhabitants and, of course, the environment. Most of these brands can match any paint color as well, so if you like Super White from Benjamin Moore, or the classic exterior whites from California Paints, you can have it in a truly non-toxic formula, not simply a low-voc, which still has objectionable ingredients.

We are using Hardiplank prefinished fiber-cement clapboard in Artic White. We will find out this week (9/28/09) how well it looks, as both cladding and metal roof are going up.
Check back for more photos soon.

    Lisa
